Exterior
Sometimes, the best way to free up space is simply to move things outside of the interior. There may be some things that you want to bring along that don’t necessarily need to stay inside your trailer. Things like lawn chairs, firewood, and outdoor equipment can probably stay outside, especially during the warm months when there’s no chance of your things getting ruined. Plus, it’s easy enough to keep your things covered when the rain does start to fall. Pulling some supplies outside can be a great way to clear up space for other things that must be kept inside.
The Kitchen
The kitchen area is a tricky area to keep organized. Most of what you bring along is necessary, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be easy to fit it all. Start by downsizing and condensing everywhere you can. Bring only the most essential pots and pans and wash them between uses to free up space. In fact, consider doing this with your dishware as well, from plates to silverware.
Try to find as many food alternative food sources to take up less food in your fridge (frozen, dried, canned, etc.). You’ll notice that having just the essential refrigerated items can take up a lot of space, so there won’t be a lot of additional space to store luxury items.
Finally, one of the most effective ways to clear up space in your kitchen is to simply use it less. Go out to eat for smaller meals and check out new restaurants to avoid having to take up storage space with food. It’s not everyone’s favorite option since it’s not always healthy, but it can be helpful for saving space.
The Bedroom
The bedroom is often used to store personal items that you won’t necessarily share with the rest of your camping party, like clothes, personal hygiene products, etc. It can be easy to fill up this space quickly, especially with junk you don’t need. Because of this, you’ll need to be diligent about what you do bring with you. Limit your clothes to just the basics, especially if this is only a temporary trip. Take advantage of laundromats and laundry facilities that might be on your campground. If you’re worried about still keeping up on trends, look into some recommendations on key clothing items you should have to mix and match while still saving space in your closet.
Also try to find alternative storage solutions for other items. Use any bathroom storage to tuck away your hygiene products and hanging cubbies for your shoes. Wherever you run into a problem with finding room for your gear, consider first if you really need to bring it and then brainstorm alternative storage solutions.
